The 2025/26 SBL season will get underway on Thursday 18th September

The SBL is set to return on Thursday (18/09/25) with the first match of the season taking place at Lifestyle Fitness Chard as Chard Flight host Huish Tigers.

Following the opening match between Chard Flight and Huish Tigers, league competition will continue the ned day, Friday 19th September, with Bridgwater Bucs hosting Bridgwater Blackhawks at B&T College Bridgwater Centre.

2025/2026 SBL Senior Men Teams

Somerset Basketball is pleased to welcome back Taunton Tornados who, after a year away from the SBL, once again be fielding a team. Bridgwater Blackhawks however, after fielding 3 teams last year will only be entering 1 team for 2025/26.

Registration and Licences

All players and coaches require a valid Basketball England Membership and Licence for insurance purposes. The process for registration with Basketball England has changed for this season. Speak to your club about this or find out more on the Basketball England website: www.basketballengland.co.uk/membership

League Rules and Code of Conduct

New for this year we are publishing league rules governing the running of the association’s men’s league and playoff competition. Teams and players should familiarise themselves with the rules and will be expected to abide by them.

Anyone involved with Somerset Basketball must also adhere to the Somerset Basketball Code of Conduct which this year has been updated. Please read carefully and ensure you understand the expectations it outlines for everyone involved.

Reporting Results

There is an established and simple procedure for teams to submit match results to the league to ensure timely communication via the website and other channels. It requires little effort to follow but provides tremendous benefit to everyone in the league. Please ensure you understand the expectations it outlines. The procedure remains exactly the same for 2025/26.

Match Cancellations

In the event that a scheduled match must be cancelled there is an established procedure for teams to notify everyone involved in a timely manner. Teams should ensure they understand and follow this procedure to avoid any issues.
