Preview of early November SBL Fixtures
14With the season now in full swing let’s look ahead at some of the upcoming league matches in the early part of November, starting with Tornados vs Dragons and Baltics vs Hornets, both on Friday 4th.
Dragons and Tornados have both yet to record a win in 2016/17. Tornados finished last place in 15/16 and will want to get their first win at home against league new comers Taunton Dragons. Dragons have had a challenging start to the season facing Huish Hornets as well as last season’s champions Bridgwater Bucs, performing well in each match despite losing both. The fixture takes place at Somerset College on Friday 4th November at 7:45pm and will be officiated by Jim Hartston and Servin Farzeneh.
Also scheduled for Friday 4th November, Bridgwater Baltics will host Huish Hornets at Bridgwater College Academy, tip-off 7:45pm. Baltics finished runners up in 15/16 losing just 6 times, including one loss to Hornets. They have an impressive record in the SBL finishing runners up in 14/15, 13/14 and 12/13, with a 41/18 win/loss record in total recorded fixtures.
Huish have strengthened their team this season and have won two of their first three games. Because of scheduling this will be Baltics first game of the season. Officials will be Alan Jackson and Dave Hatrey.
08/11/16 Team BC vs Hornets
Huish Hornets will be back in action just four days later when they play Team BC Bucs at Bridgwater College, tip-off 7:45pm. This fixture will be officiated by Dave Hatrey and Igors Kuzņecovs. Team BC Bucs are a partnership between Bridgwater & Taunton College and the Bridgwater Bucs club, made up of mostly College students with some senior players from the Bucs.
This is a similar arrangement to Huish Hornets who are made up of students from Richard Huish with other senior players from the area providing them with experience. Both teams aim to develop younger players and provide a link into senior competition.
11/11/16 Bucs vs Tornados and Dragons vs Baltics
Two more fixtures will take place on Friday 11th November when Bridgwater Bucs host Taunton Tornados and Taunton Dragons host Bridgwater Baltics.
The first game, Bucs vs Tornados, tips off at 7:15pm at Bridgwater College and will be officiated by Matt Nolan and Dave Hatrey. This will be a tough test for Tornados as the Bucs record speaks for itself; not losing in league or play-off competitions since the 2012/13 season.
The second game, Dragons vs Baltics, tips off slightly later at 7:45pm at Castle Sports Centre and will be officiated by Jim Hartston and Shervin Farzaneh.
