The Play-Off competition format, as in previous years, will be two semi-finals and a final to determine the SBL Play-Off Champions. First place Bridgwater Blackhawks will play fourth place Huish Tigers and second place Bridgwater Bucs will play third place Taunton Dragons. Dates and times will be published as and when they are finalised.

The league competition has finished later this season due to multiple reasons: 8 league teams this year has meant more fixtures to complete and with some teams competing outside of the SBL, that has meant less dates available for fixtures. As with previous seasons availability of officials has also been a factor and that meant at times fixtures being postponed at short notice.

Despite these challenges 55 of the 56 SBL games this season were able to be played! For context this is the most SBL games played in a season since 2015/16 when 10 fixtures were unable to be completed. The fact that all but 1 fixture was completed this season is a testament to the patience and understanding shown by players, coaches, officials, committee members and teams throughout the year.

This season has been a great success with some fantastic basketball and very competitive games. 129 different players have taken part this season. 17 games were decided by 10 or less points, 11 games were decided by 5 or less and 3 were incredibly close, being decided by just 1 or 2 points. There was 1 game requiring overtime this season. Two new teams (and some familiar names) joined the league in Bridgwater Blackhawks and Chard Flight.

A total of 3,947 baskets were scored (7,438 points) across all games. Of those baskets 2,241 were two-point field goals (4,482 points), 625 were three-point field goals (1,875 points) and 1,081 were made free-throws. The most points scored in a single game this season was 118 by Taunton Tornados.

A big thank you to all our officials this season - special mentions to Igors Kuznecovs, Shervin Farzeneh and George Adams who officiated 22, 19 and 16 games respectively. Thanks also to Ian Spearman for once again coordinating officials for fixtures this season.

Thank you also to all those who have performed the vital role of Scorer and Timekeeper over the season, special mentions to Mia Lane, Emily Adams and Steph Jones (14 games each), and Megan Howe (13 games).

The SBL would also like to highlight the work done by Matt Lomen from Blackhawks, Phil Rogers from Bucs, Toby Veale from Dragons, Gary Carter from Tigers, Dan Howe from Tornados (1 & 2), Mason Galloway from Bucs 2 (as well as Committee Chairman), Brad Masters from Flight and all the other unnamed coaches and volunteers for each of our teams. These guys do a tremendous amount of volunteer work running and organising their teams, work that is often behind the scenes and not fully appreciated but without which the SBL simply wouldn’t exist.
