At the midway point of the 2017/18 season the SBL competition is looking very interesting with 3 teams recording 4 wins and 1 loss and top positions currently being decided by points difference.

Last season’s League Champions Bridgwater Baltics sit in first place at the Christmas break with wins against Team BC Bucs (Away 59 – 87), Taunton Tornados (Home 66 – 46), Taunton Dragons (Away 63 – 79) and Team BC Bucs (Home 60 – 29). Their single loss was dealt to them by Culm Valley Comets in a 77 – 76 thriller at Uffculme Sports & Fitness Centre.

In second place are Taunton Dragons who have the head-to-head advantage over Bridgwater Bucs by defeating them away by the narrowest of margins, 71 – 72. Their other victories came against Culm Valley Comets (Home 95 – 78), Taunton Tornados (Home 84 – 44) and Team BC Bucs (Home 63 – 47). They suffered their only defeat when they played Bridgwater Baltics in their most recent game (Home 63 – 79).

Last season’s League runners up and Playoff Champions, Bridgwater Bucs sit in third place with victories over Taunton Tornados (Away 43 – 84), Team BC Bucs (Home 93 – 64), Culm Valley Comets (Away 62 – 66) and Taunton Tornados (Home 54 – 50). As mentioned above they lost in a nail-biter to Taunton Dragons at home 71 – 72.

Culm Valley Comets have made a strong return to the SBL following a year’s break with 3 wins and 2 losses. They defeated Bridgwater Baltics (Home 77 – 76), Team BC Bucs (Away 75 – 109) and Taunton Tornados (Away 58 – 69). Their losses were to Taunton Dragons (Away 95 – 78) and Bridgwater Bucs (Home 62 – 66).

In fifth place are Taunton Tornados (1 win 5 losses) with their victory coming against Team BC Bucs (Away 44 – 60). Their losses were to Bridgwater Bucs (Home 43 – 84), Taunton Dragons (84 – 44), Bridgwater Baltics (Away 66 – 46), Culm Valley Comets (Away 58 – 69) and Bridgwater Bucs (Away 54 – 50).

Though currently sitting in sixth position, Team BC Bucs remain competitive though are yet to record a win. They lost to Bridgwater Baltics (Home 59 – 87), Bridgwater Bucs (Away 93 – 64), Culm Valley Comets (Home 75 – 109), Taunton Dragons (Away 63 –47), Taunton Tornados (Home 44 – 60) and Bridgwater Baltics (Away 60 – 29).
