Ben Ellis becomes leading point scorer in SBL history
368Congratulations to Ben Ellis who has become the leading ‘all-time’ scorer in the SBL with 1529 points (and counting), in 111 games played.
In last night’s Huish Tigers vs Taunton Dragons fixture, Ben poured in 22 points in just 3 quarters on very efficient shooting to take his total SBL points scored to 1529.
Ben has been a consistent scorer in our league since the 2013/14 season, spending 3 seasons with Culm Valley Comets before transferring to Taunton Dragons in 2015/16 following Comets’ withdrawal. This season Ben is averaging 15.14 ppg, his best was in 2014/15 when he averaged 21.75 ppg. He has scored 30 or more points 3 times and 20 or more points in 21 games. Ben has shown himself to be an excellent shooter in his 12 seasons in the SBL, a great teammate and a model of sportsmanship.
Congratulations to Ben on this great achievement! It does not look as though it will be bested any time soon, especially as he continues to show great form this season.
Note: The first SBL season took place in 2006/07 but we do not have a total record of scoresheets, and therefore individual player scores, of seasons prior to 2012/13.
