2017/18 SBL League starts next week (13/10/17)
38The start of the SBL season has arrived and the first game will be played on Friday 13th October when Team BC Bucs host last year’s league champions Bridgwater Baltics at B&T College Bridgwater Centre.
Both teams enjoyed their best seasons last year in the SBL with Baltics winning the league competition and finishing runners up in the play-offs. Team BC continue to improve finishing in fourth place in 16/17, their best to date. Officials for this fixture will be Dave Hatrey and Igors Kuzņecovs.
The following week will see two fixtures on Friday 20th October. After a year away, Somerset Basketball is pleased to welcome back Culm Valley Comets who will be hosted by Taunton Dragon’s at Castle Sports Centre, tip-off 19:45. Officials: Dave Hatrey and Aaron Carpanini.
Also on Friday 20th October, Taunton Tornados will host 16/17 playoff winners Bridgwater Bucs at B&T College Taunton Centre. Gaining some experience this year from new members to their roster, Tornados will look to improve on their 16/17 campaign but will face a tough start against the experienced Bucs. Tip-off 20:00, officials Shervin Farzaneh and Jim Hartston.
The final fixture of the month is a club derby where home team Bridgwater Bucs play Team BC Bucs at B&T College Bridgwater Centre on Tuesday 31st October, 19:15. Officials: Jim Hartston and Shervin Farzaneh.
