2021/22 Men’s league reaches end stage with champion still to be decided

With just four fixtures remaining in the 2021/22 Men’s league competition, top position remains up for grabs for two teams – newcomers to the SBL this season, Huish Tigers and SBL dynasty Bridgwater Bucs.

Huish Tigers will host Bridgwater Bucs on Thursday 17th March in their final game of the season with the winners of that match crowned champions. As of 14/03/22 Tigers and Bucs are tied for points, both teams having recorded 8 wins with just 1 loss. Tigers hold 1st place having won their away fixture against Bucs earlier in the season 67 – 63. Their only loss coming to Bucs 2 on 07/01/22 (57 – 51), leaving the door open for Bucs to retain their title from 2019/20 (the last time the league was run due to the Covid19 pandemic). An exciting and high stakes end to the season for both teams and the league!

Team Played Wins Losses % For Against Difference Points
1 9 8 1 89 620 515 105 25
2 9 8 1 89 733 578 155 25
3 10 6 4 60 716 542 174 22
4 9 2 7 23 591 717 -126 13
5 8 1 7 13 532 675 -143 10
6 7 1 6 15 338 503 -165 8

At the other end of the table Bridgwater Bucs 2 have a chance to avoid last place and leapfrog 2 teams into 4th with 3 games left in their season. They’ll need to win all of them to do that and current 4th placed team Taunton Tornados 2 and 5th placed team Taunton Dragons will be looking to put a stop to those plans when they both host Bucs 2 this week:

The final game of the season will take place on Friday 25th March with Bucs 2 hosting Taunton Dragons at which point plans for the Play-off competition will be finalised. Taunton Tornados are the only team with no more games to play and their third place finish is secure with their 6 wins 4 loss record.
