Somerset Basketball have imposed a 20 – 0 forfeit against Taunton Dragons for playing an unregistered player in their away fixture against Taunton Tornados on 15/02/19.

The league has conducted an investigation after they were made aware of a possible violation of rules specified by Basketball England and Somerset Basketball. Following review of the evidence and subsequent statements by teams, the league found that Taunton Dragons had played an unregistered player in the fixture that originally ended Tornados 52 – 57 Dragons.

As a result the Committee has imposed the following penalty against Dragons: The fixture is awarded to Taunton Tornados 20 - 0 with Tornados receiving 3 points and Dragons receiving 1 point*.

The decision is consistent with rulings made in the past.

*In normal circumstances the forfeiting team does not receive any points but as this forfeit was imposed as a penalty the committee made the decision to award a league point to Dragons.
